Letters of Change

A weekly space for happiness, self-trust & the art of living well

Hello and welcome, Reader!

Change rarely asks for permission.
Sometimes it arrives as a quiet shift, but more often like a wave you didn’t see coming.

And when it does, our first response isn’t always calm or wise.
It’s human.

Fear. Denial. Anger. Or that urge to fix everything right now.

I see it now every week in a community, where hundreds of professionals — coaches, consultants, and entrepreneurs — come together to talk about what’s shifting in their work and life. The conversations start with emotion: frustration, confusion, even grief.

But once the storm quiets, something deeper happens. People begin to notice their unique patterns — how they meet change when it’s out of their control.

When change takes you by surprise

Some people move fast. They fight, plan, take action, or run from the discomfort. Others freeze for a while, unsure what to do next.

There’s no single right way. But once emotions settle, we all choose (partly unconsciously) how to move forward.

Over time, I began to notice three distinct responses. Not reactions, but strategies for navigating change:

Explorers

They sense that something new is calling, but they prefer to observe from the shore first.
They stay curious, test ideas, listen, and slowly adjust, without burning the bridge behind them.

Explorers remind us that patience can be a form of courage.

Pathfinders

They feel safer with a plan. They research, collect data, and map out possibilities before taking a leap.

Pathfinders know that clarity builds confidence, but they sometimes get stuck in preparation.
Their challenge? To trust that not every step can be predicted.

Pioneers

They act first. They learn through movement.

Pioneers believe that clarity is born in motion, that progress matters more than perfection.
Their challenge is to pause long enough to reflect and recharge before the next leap.

The truth...

At different moments of life, we all become Explorers, Pathfinders, and Pioneers.
And sometimes, when the change feels too big or unfair, we simply need to rest: to restore compassion for ourselves before deciding anything.

Change is inevitable. But how we meet it can become a conscious choice.

When we understand our natural response, we stop wasting energy fighting the storm and start learning to navigate through it with confidence.

If you know a friend or colleague who’s in the middle of a big shift — at work, at home, or inside — share this letter with them.
Sometimes, all we need is a moment of clarity to see our next step more gently.

With love,

It’s my birthday week, a moment that always nudges me to pause, look around, and whisper, “So… what have we learned this time?” And while many people share lists of lessons equal to their age, I decided that’s far too long for both of us. I don’t have 58 wise revelations, and...
