Letters of Change

A weekly space for happiness, self-trust & the art of living well

Hello and welcome, Reader!

I had a clear plan for February: complete Chapter 2 of my new book.

Chapter 1 in January.
Chapter 2 in February.
Steady, disciplined progress.

Instead, I only truly began in mid-January.
And on Saturday, February 28, I was still rewriting Chapter 2...

Not editing or polishing.
Rewriting.

My mood was low.
I questioned the quality.
I questioned the pace.
I questioned myself.

Then I noticed something quietly ironic.

Chapter 2, The Fight with Yourself, explores how we resist what already is.

And I realized that this resistance was precisely what I had been practicing all along.

What I Was Really Fighting

The book I’m writing is called The Nature of Change: Seasonal Wisdom for Women in Their Second Act.

It’s built on a simple idea:
We, humans, are part of nature, and so we move in seasons.

There are phases for expansion.
Phases for consolidation.
Phases for visible growth.
And phases that look slow from the outside but are deeply formative inside.

Instead of honoring that, I was focused on what was missing:

  • the speed,
  • the finish line,
  • the visible progress.

I was ignoring what was already present:

  • the inspiring idea,
  • the time and other resources,
  • the privilege of being able to sit and work on what matters to me right now.

That shift in attention, from appreciation to lack, created the inner fight.

The Quiet Trap

When we reject our current phase, we create unnecessary tension.

You cannot create while attacking your own timing.

You cannot
force and trust,
push and listen,
demand and receive
at the same time.

There is a space between letting go and wanting more.

That space is not failure.
It is recalibration.

And what feels like a delay is often preparation unfolding at a pace we don’t control.

A Calm Place to Stand

If this feels familiar, you might pause for a moment and ask yourself:

  • Where am I fighting my current season?
  • What am I trying to force that may still be forming?
  • What would change if I allowed this phase to be what it is?

You don’t need to answer immediately.

You don’t need to fix anything.

You might simply notice.

And if you would like a quiet space to reflect further, there is one on my website.

It isn’t a program.
It isn’t a decision point.
It’s just a place to stand when you’re in between seasons.

It’s OK Not to Know What’s Next

Often, clarity begins with permission.
Permission to not know.
Permission to be in process.
Permission to trust your timing.

With warmth,

Elena

Before something truly meaningful can happen, there is almost always a phase of preparation. It doesn’t look impressive. It doesn’t come with clear answers. And it rarely feels productive. But this phase matters. When we act too fast, before we’re ready, we often make decisions that look reasonable on the outside...
