Letters of Change

A weekly space for happiness, self-trust & the art of living well

Hello Reader!

We often think clarity comes from moving forward. But sometimes, it comes from pausing long enough to notice which path isn’t ours to walk.

When the compass points away

She was in her late 40s, top management at a major European pharmaceutical company. The work was heavy enough, but the politics around her compliance role made every day a drain.

When a global start-up offered her the CEO position in her country, it seemed like the escape she’d been waiting for. Prestige, fresh energy, a chance to lead.

But as we worked through the decision, she began to see the truth: she wasn’t drawn to the company’s mission, only to the status the role promised. Accepting would have traded one misfit for another — a shinier cage, but a cage nonetheless.

Saying “no” was not easy. It meant turning away from recognition, power, and the comfort of a title others would envy. But that “no” also gave her something priceless: space.

With that space came new questions.

  • What if she didn’t need another employer?
  • What if her years of experience could become the foundation for something self-directed?
  • What if she could work with organizations she truly believed in not just ones that offered her a corner office?

That’s when consultancy appeared on the horizon.

  • A way to combine her expertise with freedom.
  • A way to choose her clients instead of inheriting someone else’s politics.
  • A way to lead on her own terms.

This is the Pathfinder’s compass — taking the time to chart the right route before you commit.

Do you have the courage to pause and gain the wisdom to choose alignment over applause?

💡 The next step isn’t a always a leap. Sometimes it’s a question.
