Letters of Change

A weekly space for happiness, self-trust & the art of living well

Hello and welcome, Reader!

There are moments in life when everything we’ve built seems to quietly shift.
Not collapse — just… loosen its grip.

This week’s story is about one of my clients who found herself standing at such a crossroads.

When clarity feels out of reach

She’s 48, a successful psychoanalyst with an international practice. Her clients come from all over the world. On paper, everything looks fine.

But in the last few years, too much has changed. Her business never fully recovered after Covid. Her son, whom she raised alone, recently got married and moved out. And just a few weeks ago, she lost her closest friend to cancer — the one person she could always talk to about serious decisions.

So, when she asked me, “Should I move to another country or not?”, the question wasn’t really about geography. It was about connection.

Because for the first time in her life, she had no one to think aloud with.

What we really need in transition

When we’re in transition, we often think we need clarity.
But what we truly need is focus.

Clarity can feel too big — like seeing the whole map when all you need is the next turn.
Focus, on the other hand, is choosing one small thing that matters right now.

That’s what The Next Chapter Journey is built around:

4 simple but powerful stages:

Clarity → Impulse → Action → Reflection

You don’t need to see the whole picture to begin.
You just need one true impulse and the courage to follow it.

Then you act, reflect, and begin again.

That’s how change unfolds: not in one decision, but in a gentle rhythm of small, conscious steps.

When the story has no happy end (yet)

My client’s story doesn’t end with a decision — not yet.
But she now understands why she feels stuck.

Because her values and her vision are in quiet conflict with her reality.
And because she’s used to sharing her process aloud — with her son, her best friend, her circle.

So she’s now reaching out again — reconnecting with friends who already moved abroad, her professional community, and even exploring the citizenship of her ancestors.

The story is only beginning.
And so may yours.

If you’re in a transition, too…

You might not need all the answers — just a way to refocus.

✨ Start with the Readiness to Change Quiz. It’s a gentle check-in to see where you are in your own journey — and whether you’re ready to take the next step.

Our next Next Chapter Journey cohort begins October 27.

Your gentle prompt for this week

When you feel uncertain, ask yourself:

“What one thing matters to me right now — and what would it look like to honor it?”

You don’t need full clarity to start.
You just need focus.

🫶 Help someone start their own chapter

If you know someone who has everything on paper but still feels that quiet “something’s missing,” share this letter with them.
Every transition begins with a moment of focus — the clarity to see what truly matters next.

With warmth,

Elena

Sometimes, change begins not with a crisis — but with a cup of coffee. That’s how it started for one of my clients, a 40-year-old senior business development manager at a global IT company. She was smart, respected, and successful by every measure. Her life looked exactly how success is supposed to look: 💼 a...

Some changes begin quietly. Not with fireworks or big decisions, but with a subtle discomfort — a sense that what once mattered no longer does. That the ladder we’re climbing might be leaning against the wrong wall. We call it “a career change,” “a new chapter,” or “a turning point,” but at its heart, every...

Some people celebrate every milestone with fireworks. I’m not one of them. I’ve always been better at moving forward than pausing. Even when something big happens, I tend to rush into the next task instead of stopping to breathe it in. But lately, two very different experiences reminded me how wrong that habit...
