Letters of Change

A weekly space for happiness, self-trust & the art of living well

Hello and welcome Reader!

Sometimes we stay too long in the wrong place —
a job that quietly drains us,
a routine that no longer fits,
a version of life that’s long outgrown.

Why? Because it’s stable. Familiar. Safe enough.

Even when our bodies whisper (or shout) for change,
we keep surviving instead of creating.

This week’s letter is not to frighten.
It’s here to brighten the moment you recognize:
you don’t have to wait until crisis to begin again.

A Story: When Julia Finally Chose Herself

Julia spent years as an HR Director in a high-profile company.
She was good at her job, really good, perfect.
But it drained her. The meetings, the office politics, the endless push for performance.
It was slowly costing her something she couldn’t quite name.

She kept going.

Then came the diagnosis.
Cancer. A moment that split life into before and after.

It was terrifying — and clarifying.

The question she had long avoided came rushing in:
“Is this the life I want?”

She thought back to her quiet passion: woodworking.
She used to create things just for herself, or as gifts for friends. It lit her up in a way corporate life never had.
And now, she couldn’t ignore it.

After recovery, Julia moved to a small rural town and began again.
She started a business blending what she loved with what she knew.
Now she makes beautiful wooden pieces, teaches workshops, and hosts guests in her own creative retreat space.

Her story — in full — is part of The Midlife Career Pivot,
but this much is true for all of us:

The real turning point didn’t come because of cancer.
It came the moment she chose to stop surviving… and start creating.

A Gentle Insight

The energy we live in becomes the life we live out.

Survival mode is a useful short-term state: it helps us navigate danger, uncertainty, illness, transitions.

But stay there too long… and it starts to dim everything.
Clarity. Joy. Imagination. Growth.

Creation energy, on the other hand, doesn’t come from certainty.
It comes from willingness. From choosing what’s life-giving, even before it feels safe or fully formed.

A Short Practice: The Shift From Survival to Creation

Find a quiet moment and ask yourself:

  • What’s one area of my life that feels tight, small, or draining?
  • What’s one small thing I could create in that space instead of just coping?
  • What would it feel like to act from expansion, not contraction. Even in the tiniest way?

You don’t have to leap into the unknown.
You just have to turn toward what’s possible.

And if you want feedback or a reflection partner — just reply to this email. I read every message.
